Joe Blackburn

Stosch's Silent Endorsment, Til Now...

There are two things I would like to address today.

First,

Today I received a envelope with this return address "Allen Cabinet Members For Senator Walter Stosch." Myself being heavily interested in this race opened the envelope and found inside two letters. One, titled "from the desk of Senator George Allen" and the second, "Allen Cabinet Members for Senator Walter Stosch." If you didn't notice, George Allen endorsed Stosch well over a month ago, but since then I have heard nothing else about it. Then three days ago I heard a radio commercial by Allen for Stosch, and now today Allen has sent out this letter. This letter seems to be in heavy contrast to Jim Gilmore's appearance and support of Blackburn at his "bluegrass and Burgers" event. Some would say that both Gilmore and Allen are just "washed out" politicians, trying to throw around what political weight they have left. Others would say these are very important endorsements. I noticed two things. One, that, Gilmore is running for President, and two, Allen is not...(note, I would probably be fully supporting Allen if he was)
Allen's letter seemed, sweet, cute, and all around friendly but had very little substance, it had statements such as:

"as I reflect on my tenure as Governor..."

"I said in my Inaugural Address..."

"Walter you know me well..."

"For that phrase-"live, work, and raise a family" - to thrive in the future, we need you, Walter, in the senate of Virginia."

Many, VERY friendly, happy statements, but very little of why I should be supporting Stosch.

Second,

I want to address the contrast of what Stosch says, and what Gilmore does. Stosch made these statements in publications such as:

"Walter Stosch Co-sponsered teh historic Republican car tax relief plan and he has voted to increase car tax relief from $620 million to $950 Million""Walter Stosch was a leader in paying for Governor Jim Gilmore's historic plan to phase out the car tax."

"Walter helped pass 30 tax cuts including...funding the car tax relief by 50% more than Governor Gilmore requested." (I am not sure how Gilmore's plan worked, but how did Stosch vote to fund relief by 50% more then Gilmore, when Gilmore wanted to abolish the car tax? Wouldn't there be no tax to get relief from?)

With statements like these I find it very...interesting, that when it comes down to it Gilmore is supporting Blackburn. I think this speaks volumes for Joe Blackburn and could be very condemning evidence against Walter, but I will let you, the voter decide.
