The American Public Is Still Sane

It is a relief to see that Rendition and the Valley of Elah, two of the big Hollywood anti-war movies have been huge flops this fall. With Hollywood deploying approximately half a dozen anti-war movies of one type or another this fall, the two biggest thus far have been huge busts at the box office.

In two weeks of release, Rendition has made only $7.8 million domestically (only $4.1 million for its opening weekend, in which it opened at #10 on the box office charts). The Valley of Elah has done even worse with a total of $6.5 million after five weeks.

I'd like to note that even Amazing Grace, a low budget film with very little fanfare about William Wilberforce, this spring made over $21 million ($31 mil total worldwide), although that was over a period of several months.
