Now here is an idea I can get on board with.
On Monday, the editors of the National Review floated the suggestion that Virginia Republicans recruit former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Virginia resident, Gen. Peter Pace to run for the United States Senate seat being vacated by Sen. John Warner.
Assuming that neither Rep. Eric Cantor nor Rep. Randy Forbes, either of whom I would vigorously support, are keen on abandoning their comfortable seats in the House for a shot at one in the Senate, General Pace seems an ideal fit for this race. The only question is, what will it take to convice the General that his time for service is not yet over?
For starters, we are going to have to become more familiar with him to stave of the inevitable Democratic attempts to smear this honorable public servant. To that end, and cribbed from Wikipedia, here is a list of the military medals earned by General Pace during his years of service to our nation:

Ironically, I met General
Ironically, I met General Pace a few months ago while he was visiting Andersen Air Force Base here on Guam where I'm stationed. I also spoke with him for a few brief moments after hearing him speak to most of the officers on base. He's certainly a very impressive individual with a splendid career behind him and someone whose convictions do not waver.
I doubt whether he will want to move into the political arena where it's not so easy to speak what you believe and not be ripped apart for it. I don't know if he wants to submit himself to the jarring process of being torn apart by the Washington Post, which is probably frothing at the mouth already at the idea of trying to take down another patriotic
Help encourage Gen Pace to consider running!
For those interested in encouraging Gen Pace to continue serving his country in the Senate, please email draftpeterpace@gmail.com. We are in the process of passing along encouragement and should have more permanent website up shortly.
In the meantime, please watch Gen Pace’s farewell address as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNt3U8JAm5g
Just watch how this noble patriot deals with the lefty protesters. Nobody has more class.
